Transportation

Transportation projects are complex and require a comprehensive approach that is responsive and flexible. Straightforward planning and design solutions must consider all potential impacts including social, land use, environmental and economic conditions. We start with a thorough understanding of these impacts and create a balance between the need to enhance safety and capacity in the most effective manner.

Using a "consensus based" approach, aided by state-of-the-art design / modeling and imaging software, we can help you visualize, communicate and complete your proposed improvements.

Yaggy Colby Associates' highly experienced team can respond to any size and facet of your transportation project including:

Yaggy Colby Associates has over 40 years of highway/street design experience. Our highway design group brings together a staff of innovative professionals to create efficient and safe surface transportation facilities and structures for governmental agencies and public clients. Our staff members integrate their ideas and resources to develop solutions that are functional and cost efficient.

Our highway/street design experience is extensive and includes a wide variety of projects. We have planned, designed, and inspected the completion of rural highways, urban interchanges, city streets, parkways, and complex intersections. Many of these projects begin with project scoping and corridor and alignment studies, which are followed by environmental documentation. These projects have included features such as roundabouts, bicycle lanes, pedestrian facilities, and traffic signals.

Specific services that we provide include:
Detailed Design
Preliminary Design
Utility and Agency Coordination
Project Documentation
A safe and efficient multi-modal transportation system is a critical component of a community's economy and quality of life. The movement of people and goods across all transportation modes has a direct bearing on employment, shopping, entertainment, industry and economic development. Problems resulting from unbalanced transportation systems include a loss of community, air pollution, global warming, water pollution, and increased accidents.

Yaggy Colby Associates uses technologies and advanced electronics to revolutionize the efficiency of all modes of multi-modal transportation systems including railroads, airports, highways, and other modes.
Our team provides services for the following project types:

Railroads
Airports
Bike and Pedestrian Facilities
Rest Area Facilities

Yaggy Colby Associates offers a wide range of transportation planning services, supplemented by our services in traffic modeling and design. Responding to growing roadway capacity and safety needs and the public demand for comprehensive solutions, planning for multiple modes has become the standard for neighborhoods and communities. Our approach emphasizes the development of creative, cost-effective and integrated plans that work for both simple and complex transportation systems. The perspective we bring to reducing congestion and enhancing safety goes beyond roadway and traffic design to include transit systems, bicycle, and pedestrian modes. We can also address planning needs for airports, rail and ports.
Our Transportation Planning products and services include:

Access Management and Corridor Studies
Local Circulation Studies
Transportation Plan Preparation
Inter-modal Facility Planning
Project Documentation

Yaggy Colby Associates' traffic staff is trained and experienced in all aspects of traffic engineering. This includes collecting and processing traffic data, developing traffic projections, and evaluating the impact of new development on existing roadway systems, to ultimately completing traffic planning studies, designing individual traffic signals and designing complex traffic control systems covering an arterial or street corridor with multiple intersections. Ensuring the efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians, while paying close attention to the goals and objectives of the community and region, is the basic premise of all the traffic engineering services we provide. Our staff understands the impacts of varying traffic conditions and can design the necessary roadway geometrics, traffic control systems, and traffic calming methods to provide the highest level of traffic operation in the area.

Our Traffic Engineering Services include:

Traffic Impact Analysis
Travel Demand Management
Traffic Studies
Traffic Signal System Design
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
Signing and Striping Design
Street Lighting Design
